June 15, 2023.  On a sunlit Thursday evening after much wet weather, the McCall Middle School eight-graders became high school freshmen. Friends, family and caretakers were welcomed to the outdoor ceremony by Principal James Lin’s opening remarks and then students greeted the crowd in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, French, Mandarin, Armenian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese and Italian.

Eighth-grader Sierra Scott gave graduation remarks and students Lily Swilling and Kellyn He received humanitarian awards for their kindness and leadership.  Other students read tributes to three retiring teachers: Leila Kahn and Talia Tashjian for teacher Lori King; Carol McInnis for teacher Mary Starck, and Laney Hiller for teacher Eleanor Stroud.  The Jubilation Singers performed “Be Like a Bird.”

During the distribution of certificates, one students accepted his certificate dressed as a hot dog and another did a backflip for the camera after receiving his. The evening ended with a thank you and farewell by Principal Lin.
