July 4, 2023.  Thanks to a grant from the Winchester Cultural Council, seven local artists are starting to paint some of the downtown utility boxes, the refrigerator-sized metal containers that hold traffic light controls and cable and electrical connections.  Arlington and Lexington folks have been painting their boxes for years, and the cultural council got permission from the town and utilities to sponsor them in Winchester.   Hilda Wong-Doo, one of the jurors, says, “I’m so excited to highlight the talent of Winchester artists and begin investing in permanent outdoor art in the Cultural District.”
