Hard as it is to believe that endless summer days will be waning, September will bring the grand reopening of the Griffin Museum of Photography and also the Winchester Community Music School’s Music Fest will return for all residents to “meet the instruments,” and enjoy games and a scavenger hunt.

The Griffin Museum will host a free grand re-opening and artist reception for their exhibit called “Ceding Ground,” an exhibition featuring the works of four photographic artists: Bremner Benedict, Ville Kansanen, Ellen Konar, Steve Goldband, Jason Lindsey, Connie Lowell, Simon Norfolk, and Camille Seaman.  According to the Griffin’s Associate Director Ally Cirelli, the exhibit “sheds light on the critical issues of climate change and the water cycle, using the power of photography to evoke awareness, empathy, and action.”  The reception will be on Friday, September 8 from 6 to 8 p.m., with light refreshments.  Visitors will also get to see the museum’s new reading library.

And two days later, on Saturday, September 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., residents are invited to the Music School’s annual Music Fest where they’ll features outdoor and indoor activities including meet-the-instrument sessions, instrument demos, a scavenger hunt with prizes, and musical storytime. Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions about group classes, ensembles, and private lessons for kids, teens, and adults.

Anyone wanting to try a music lesson beforehand, can register for a free demo lesson, September 5 – September 9.
