MBTA zoning meetings start on Thursday

Town Planner Taylor Herman told the News the public is invited to two meetings to discuss zoning changes in order to comply with the new state law regarding dense housing near MBTA stations.  The law would require Winchester to allow 15 units per acre in the downtown near the town’s commuter rail stations. At the moment, Winchester allows 13.4 units per acre downtown and eight single or duplex units per acre in residential districts.  

In addition the meetings will be to discuss North Main St. zoning changes.  The first, an Introduction to the Zoning Initiatives ,will be held November 2 from 7:00-8:30 and pre-registration for the online meeting can be done at https://bit.ly/WinchesterZoning1 The second, an Interactive Zoning Workshop will be held in person at the Jenks Center on November 21 from 7:00-8:30.
