Following a nearly five-year term, Liora Norwich is leaving her position as executive director of the Network for Social Justice.

The organization will miss her transformative leadership. She brought boundless positive energy, a creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving, and deep knowledge and professional expertise in both nonprofit management and social justice advocacy.

Taking on the position of associate professor of the practice, Norwich will be the director of the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program at Brandeis University.

The board of directors is working closely with Norwich to ensure a smooth transition. A Transition Committee has been hard at work to develop a sustainable roadmap for the future. The board expects to appoint an interim executive director in the coming weeks who will guide continuing, community-based efforts to advance equity and inclusion in Winchester and neighboring communities.

“It has been an honor to run this organization for the past five years and I am deeply proud of all we have accomplished together,” Norwich shared with the board. “The experience has shaped my life and worldview. We have built a strong model for collaborative, community-grounded social change, and demonstrated the importance of suburban communities in advancing social and racial justice. I will remain a Network supporter and I am excited to play a role in the next phase.”

Although Norwich will be leaving her position at the end of this month, she will be providing consultation to the board and the interim executive director for the next several months.
