Winchester Hospital welcomes Matthew Hinkle as new chief operating officer

Matthew Hinkle, MHA, BSN, RN, has been named as chief operating officer of Winchester Hospital and will help lead the hospital in continuing its commitment to delivering exceptional care. In this role, Hinkle will serve as the senior executive responsible for day-to-day operations of Winchester Hospital and associated offsite entities.

“Matt’s commitment to excellence and his skills as a clinician and collaborator will allow us to continue meeting the diverse health care needs of our communities,” said Al Campbell, president of Winchester Hospital. “He is a dedicated and respected hospital leader with a proven record of building professional relationships. We are fortunate he is joining our Winchester family and look forward to his leadership.”

Hinkle joins Winchester Hospital with extensive expertise in clinical and hospital operations. Prior to joining Winchester Hospital, he served as market chief operating officer in Rock Hill, S.C., for Piedmont Medical Center and Piedmont Medical Center-Fort Mill.

During his tenure, he led the construction buildout of a new hospital campus. He has also worked for Tenet Healthcare, HCA, Sentara Health, and other health systems across the country.

Hinkle earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Sentara College of Health Sciences, and a Master of Health Administration degree from Bellevue University.
